Description
Kongsberg Golf Club was established in 1991 and has quickly gained an impressive reputation. The golf course and club, which is fully owned by its members, was selected Club of the Year in 2001 by Norsk Golf (biggest Norwegian golf magazine).

A good test for golfers of all abilities, Kongsberg is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression!

A course, a course, a kingdom of a course! Kongsberg was founded in 1624 under the name Konings Bierg by Danish/Norwegian King Christian IV after the discovery of a silver ore. Just as precious is Kongsberg golf course, a parkland/forest design bearing the hallmark of Jeremy Turner, with strategic bunkers, water hazards and large, undulating greens. The park is set in exquisite surroundings with views of the Lågen river and Skrim hills at every touch and turn. The course starts with a 464 m par 5 (2 good drives will get you to the front-bunkered green) and a commanding view of the valley. This is followed by a well-protected par 3 and three par 4s with challenging greens until you get to the par 3 seventh, Kongsberg’s signature hole with the Lågen river as a backdrop. The eighth follows the river to a long par 5 that takes you back to the clubhouse and an equally challenging back nine. Turner had to do some remodelling at holes 12 and 13 due to an overhead power cable which the local authority would not allow to be buried underground, resulting in a couple of teasing doglegs. The eighteenth is another long par 5 that terminates right in front of the terrace at the 19th – the locally renowned restaurant. Kongsberg is one of Norway’s longest courses from the yellow tee’s but is so well designed that no time is wasted between holes. Arise, Sir Jeremy Turner.
